Why We Teach

Curly hair is the work I teach best. I've been doing hair in Commack for more than 20 years, and I'm a certified Ouidad Curly Hair Expert. When more stylists in our town can cut and color curls with confidence, curly clients all around here get better hair. That's why we open our classroom.

Walking into a salon where you don't know anyone can feel strange. So come in, get comfortable and enjoy the class. Ask questions, and participate as much or as little as you want. Hopefully you leave having learned something new.

What You Learn

One free class a month on curly hair, taught by Marie. It runs the first Monday of the month, 10am to 12pm.

Next class: Cutting Curly Hair, Monday, November 2, 2026. The curly consultation, reading the curl, cutting the right shape, the products and diffusing.

After that: Coloring Curly Hair, Monday, December 7, 2026.

Where: The Cutting Edge Hair Design, 6065 Jericho Turnpike, Commack, NY 11725.

Seats: 7 for a hands-on class, 12 for a color class.

Cost: Free, for any licensed stylist.

Questions Stylists Ask

Is the class really free?

Yes. The class is free. Nobody is paid to attend, and nobody pays to attend.

Who can come?

Any licensed stylist. You don't need to know anyone here, and our own team comes too.

What should I bring?

Bring your questions and something to take notes with. When we call or text to confirm your seat, we'll tell you anything else your class needs.

Do I need my own tools?

A hands-on class uses blow dryers, so we'll tell you what to bring when we confirm your seat. At a demo you watch and ask questions, so you don't need tools.

Will there be models?

Yes, so you see the work on real curls. The models are not paying clients, and you don't assist or work on the floor.

How often do you run it?

Once a month, on the first Monday, from 10am to 12pm. Next is Cutting Curly Hair on Monday, November 2, 2026, then Coloring Curly Hair on Monday, December 7, 2026.

How many seats are there?

7 for a hands-on class and 12 for a color class, so save your seat early.

Do I have to participate?

No. Participate as much or as little as you want. Ask questions, and hopefully you leave having learned something new.
