The Anatomy of a Great Blowout: Why Ours Last Five Days

A blowout is one of the most underrated salon services. Done well, it makes your hair look like a different person's. Done quickly or carelessly, it gives you 24 hours of bounce before everything falls flat. Here is what separates a great blowout from an average one, in plain language, so you know what to look for next time you book.
Step One: The Prep
It starts at the shampoo bowl. We use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner matched to your hair type, then towel-dry to the right level (damp, not soaking). Wet hair smoothed too early gets frizzy; over-towel-dried hair will not take the shape we want.
Then we work in Moroccanoil. The right amount for your density goes in first, distributed root to ends. This is what gives the blowout its shine, its hold, and the lived-in moisture it needs to survive day three.
Step Two: The Sectioning
Most blowouts fail because the stylist tries to dry too much hair at once. We section like we mean it: the back is split horizontally, then vertically, and we work in 1-inch sub-sections. Each section gets full root lift, full mid-shaft tension, and a finishing pass over the ends.
This is what creates the volume that lasts. A blowout with no root lift might look good for an hour, but by lunchtime it has fallen flat.
Step Three: The Tools
We use a round brush, the right barrel size for your hair length. A bigger brush gives you smoother volume; a smaller brush gives you tighter, more defined curl. Then a high-quality professional dryer that does not over-heat your strands.
Some stylists finish with a curling iron or flat iron pass for polish. That is what creates the smooth, glassy finish you see in the mirror at the end. (It is also our most popular add-on; see the Service Menu for current pricing.)
Step Four: The Finish
We finish with a drop of Moroccanoil or a flexible-hold spray, depending on what you need. The finish is what locks the shape in for the days ahead. Done right, you should be able to sleep, shower (carefully), and re-style with minimal product.
"Most clients are surprised their blowout looks better on day three than day one. That is by design.", Marie
Why Ours Last Five Days
It is the combination of all of the above, plus one thing we do that not every salon does: we ask about your routine. If you sleep with your hair up, we will give you a finish that survives a soft bun. If you work out daily, we will give you a finish that holds through a ponytail and a rebound. Your blowout should fit your life, not the other way around.
Day-Two and Beyond Tips
- Night one: sleep on a silk pillowcase or in a loose bun.
- Day two: light dry shampoo at the root for volume, no full wash.
- Day three: refresh the ends with a touch of Moroccanoil between your palms, then smooth.
- Day four to five: a quick flat iron pass on the front pieces brings everything back.
